Very obviously Pantera. The quality of songs across the first 4 albums is just so high.

Slayer has a lot of not great stuff. If everything had been as good as Seasons in the Abyss, then maybe we could talk.

Pantera had more hits and banger albums and their live shows were awesome.

Slayer shows were always more intense. Their fans are fricking crazy.

Pantera was better when they were a glam band.

The music was never glam. It's about the music.

its crazy the amount of disrespect Slayer is getting. They are one of the OGs and part of the big 4. So many bands list them as influences.

Pantera is bigger and better

Slayer is just behind and was massive and still a great band

Both statements can be true

Vs. Slayer the same year:

In the Venom vein with hardcore influences from the start. No major change to become "extreme" when they saw any NOLA bands later on.

Phil obviously brought a harder sound to the band but Dime always showed flashes of greatness even in the early days.

Slayer's bullshite satanic shtick grew old after the second album.

The soloing is worse too. I mean, I get what they were trying to do, but it's just kind of elementary and boring.

It's no coincidence that Seasons (produced by Rick Rubin) is by far their best work.

Neither were all that great in the grand scheme of things. No versatility; music for one mood.

A lot of artists start out making one 'type' of music early in their career, put out 3-4 good albums, then try to be more "versatile" later on in their career and put out a lot of shite after that.

There are a few bands who can do everything and do it well. Some bands need to stay in their lane and do what they are good at.

Slayet would be a good name for a female Slayer tribute band
