Beach Boys would be my pick followed by ABB then REM then CCR.
Beach Boys get pegged as a pop band with no artistic qualities but its just not true. They are arguably the most influential American band on good modern music.

I literally know no one who thinks that. The Beach Boys are widely regarded as one of the best bands in rock history.

No matter how much they want to deny it Sweden gets Abba.
Agree that Kraftwerk is good for Germany. Iconic.
Italy = Le Orme
Norway? Aha, Turbonegro?
Mexico? Santana? I'd vote for Dug's Dugs though
Brazil rock? Os Mutantes?

Thanks for posting that Los Chijuas. Incredible. Had never heard it.. kind of a flowery Seeds vibe. . . I'm going to have to find that 45 now.
Mexico actually had a ton of great garage and rockabilly bands. They usually had an edginess that's closer to best American bands of the period than anywhere else in the Latin world.
When I lived in San Diego I used to drive all over Baja trying to dig 60s records.
(we need a thread for the what bands would represent their country in a perfect rock & roll world)
