Here is a pitch with Curb/Word Publishing last month. There are 40 songs, she listens to the 1st verse and chorus and decides if she wants to listen to it more later.
She didn't take my song, but it's a song I didn't really even like in the first place. Oh well.

Really appreciate you posting and giving an insider view to the process. Wondering how much AI is in there. Some of it is impressive...most just makes me feel a bit better about my own writing

I only listened to the first pitch, and it definitely sounded AI-ish.

The in-person pitches are more fun, because you have to try hard not to laugh sometimes and your friends are next to you punching you, because they know you're about to laugh out loud.

She's a Nashville demo singer and a back-up singer with a mid-size touring act. She's a good guitar player too.
Her name is Melissa Duvall.

I couldn't make it through that one, did she take it?

Very nice…unsolicited opinion, but throwing drums into second verse (or second part of first?) at “no idea how you found me here” might help drive it a bit, just a touch of rhythm with sidestick to build a little before releasing into chorus? Did she cut it before it kicked in?

She wants to get to the chorus faster.

This women would have passed on 99% of the number one songs recorded in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s

Thank you. Originally were going to try it with 1 guitar and vocal, just simple. I didn't like the song much, I thought it was too damn sappy( it is pretty dang sappy) I didn't really want to demo it but was talked into it.
When I heard her sing it, I said let's add another guitar and fiddle, but we didn't re-do the vocals. It's just a song demo and you've got to do a lot more songs.

Why would you take a song to something like this that you really didn't even like that much?

That sounds like when a team misses on a big recruit and fans start with the, well we didn't need him anyways or there were issues we didn't want.

Other people like it.
So you haven't done this much? You'll do what all of the others do?

????

Does everyone take songs they don't even like that much? I don't get it. Why would you not take a song that you really liked?
