I don't get Tom Waits.

One of my all time favorites... His earlier stuff is probably an easier entry point into his music, he did start to get more eclectic as his career went on...

Sorry, I didn't jump on the hipster train like a lot of people. I like what I like and I'm not persuaded into liking music - like I feel some of the "Oh Tom Waits is soooo great" fans are.
If you really like Tom, great. I think he sounds like shite.

Has little to do with being a "hipster", although plenty of them like Waits. He is very bright and talented songwriter and, yes, performer. If you don't dig him that's fine, but it's your loss.

Nothing to get. He's terrible. He's the annoying "artist" that supposedly every other artist loves so much. Ridiculously unlistenable.
Anytime anyone gets going negative on Randy Newman, I direct them to Tom Waits.
