I think mainstream rap from like 95-2008 didn’t evolve much, and a lot of the rappers listed are from that era.
Once rap started evolving, none of those old dudes changed and thus they fell off the map.
Eta- I’m not saying rap changed for the better. I much prefer the older shite.

Lil Wayne is still huge in hip hop. He is still making good music. He released two mixtapes(Dedication 6 and D6 Reloaded) in Dec/Jan that most people rate highly. People still talk about when Carter 5 will drop.
