I was joking about the dead, I just wanted to call someone a newb and point out the spelling. Does anyone actually know the difference between noob and newb?

Similar circumstances here. Saw them at Jazz Fest 1996 with family but not again til 2009.

Noobs are assholes who have been around but just enjoy being stupid, arrogant, high and mighty Noobs.

Newbs are literally new to the scene (or game, whatever you are talking about) who are generally nice, humble people looking to learn and be a valuable part of the community.

Yup. My dad took me and a few friends, changed my life. I was 15.

I had a religious experience during bertha, it was like the scene in blues brothers in the church. "I see the light!"

Man you guys are so lucky to have parents that turned you onto the Dead at a young age, even more so to take you to see them live! My uncle gave me a copy of American Beauty for my 14th birthday and my whole world was turned upside down. Sadly, I never saw a show in person until a couple of years ago.

When I was 11 my brothers gave me Slip Stitch and Pass, American Beauty, Sublime's self titled album, Robert Randolph's awesome live cd I forget the name of it, and Galctic live at tipitina's for my birthday.

I listened to those albums for a couple years and started toget more into music around junior high but those were what got me started.

ETA: Robert Randolph, live at the wetlands. Phenomenal concert
