OK, I cannot read any music and have zero knowledge of how to rate good versus bad I just know what I like. So for those who know how "good" and "difficult" is the ending guitar riff for Journey's Whose Crying Now? Thank you

I don’t know how difficult it is to play, but it sounds amazing, even today. The entire band shines in this outro, really.

Riff
You have no way of knowing. The guitarists could have been fighting. Rhythm vs. Lead. Conflict as old as time.

The melodic line is pretty easy if you have any experience with lead lines. The solo in between the melodic lines is a little more nuanced but still not hard.
Starting with the E on the 12th fret 1st string, the notes are:
E G D G C G B G (repeat 2 x)
E G D G C G B A B (then do a wide vibrato/bend to move between B and C)
E G D G C G A (repeat 2 x)
E G D G C G B A B (then do a wide vibrato/bend to move between B and C)

Thank you very much Johnq! So what would be a hard 70/80’s riff? Sweet child of mine, Break the Chain, Rebel yell, genuinely curious, agin I have great respect for all musicians, Van Halen? Thank you

Be right back; bout to be Neal Schon.

Yes. The whole album was recorded so incredibly well and there really aren't any duds on it.

Schon is one the best guitarist I have never seen.

The greatest thing Neal Schon brings as a guitarist is that he always seems to deliver what a particular song wants or needs, whether it's core rhythm, a singable melody or all-out fire. And whether it was Santana, Journey, Bad English, HSAS and whenever else tape is rolling. He's a chameleon of styles who can do any genre, yet you ALWAYS seem to know it's him. That's what separates the greats from the icons.
If you young'uns want to see some unexpected badassery from Schon, check out Schon's shred during the all-star solos during Ronnie James Dio's "Hear 'n' Aid" endeavor. It was a 1980s charitable thing via music like "We Are The World," but from within the metal and hard rock community.

Awful song, but that guitar work you're referring to isn't too bad.

Yes, he's legit. Never got the respect he was due, probably because he wasn't all flash like other guitarists of the era and he was overshadowed by another guitarist in his first band. But he can flat out play. He's in the Steve Lukather camp for me; all the chops in the world, but never lets it get in the way of the song.
