Guitar players! Open D5 tuning.

I tuned my spare guitar to D5 tuning this morning to simply try it. It sounded heavenly! I did a google search to see what I could learn. I quickly learned "My Sacrifice" by Creed (It is a cool sound...don't hate!) and "Black Balloon" by the Goo Goo Dolls. I saw a list of songs by Alterbridge, but I don't know their stuff.
Any others?

Tremonti likes it a lot, I'm pretty sure there are more creed songs in that tuning, but can't remember which ones.

Lots of Goo Goo Dolls, Creed and Alter Bridge.
GGD also do open G or E as well. They seem to hate standard tuning.

Thanks, but I only know one song from that entire list ("My Sacrifice"). I guess I can listen to the others to see if anything piques my interest.

Kevin Cadogan used a lot on that first third eye blind album

Semi-charmed life (or whatever it was called) is the only song I know by them.

Yeah, he uses a weird arse tuning for "Name". Open tunings are fun though because you can be more creative and use different chord voicings that you can't use in standard.

...and you can simply strum away while hitting a different bass note from time to time...great on a lazy day like today...trust me!

Black Crows "she talks to angels" uses open E. Another good one.

I know that one. I don't tune to open E, though. I tune to open D and use a capo to make it E. I have popped a few strings using open E. It frightens me, now...

Blood on the tracks

I tune down a full step on all strings for some songs and it is a meaty, full sound that makes simple chords sound like 3 guitars playing in tandem.

My main acoustic stays at a half step down. I use the capo to tune up if I want to get back to standard...or higher.

most of the songs based on the "bo diddley beat" (3-2 clave) play well in open D on acoustic
not fade away
its all over now
iko-iko
the other one
mystic eyes
willie and the hand jive
plus tons of others

At first, it allows you to be more creative, but the more you play in it, the more restrictive it seems.
I keep my acoustic in Open G most of the time.

Alter Bridge is awesome. Give them a try. Their latest album Fortress is worth a listen to are their first two albums (especially Blackbird)

Devin Townsend makes masterful use of Open C.

Is this just Dropped D tuning?
Or DADGAD?
Too lazy too google.
I know Tremonti and most 90's types dig that drop D shite.
DADGAD yields some cool shite as well. I personally like Open G or Open D with a Capo as mentioned earlier.
