In all seriousness, of the bands/singers who really hit popularity during the 90s, my favorites probably consist of:
Black Crowes
Collective Soul
Alan Jackson
Toby Keith

Put on 90's Alternative on pandora and it'll play you a pretty good list.

"The World I Know" is still one of my favorite songs.

Do any of y'all remember the John Garabedian open house party?
It was a syndicated radio show that you could call into and he played current music.

Unfortunately I don’t but that sounds awesome.
Born in mid 90’s so don’t remember much but always listened to Gen X radio stations growing up

Wiki: Open House Party
Crazy the setup he had in his basement running a syndicated radio show on Saturday and Sunday nights for roughly 5hrs at a time.
I remember calling in and getting thru 2 times over the years. Was such a cool thing IMO

1994 was a great year for music across the board
Everything from Snoop, Warren G, Nate Dogg, and Tupac to
REM, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Pantera, Cranberries, Beck, Gin Blossoms, Nirvana unplugged released
If that’s not your style, then there’s also Ace of Base, Salt n Peppa, plus a lot of Mariah Carey
Plus Meatloaf, Elton John’s Lion King, 10,000 Maniacs, and Sheryl Crow.

When Jerry Garcia died in 1995, Phish really blew up. They were already getting pretty popular but that's when they really took off. Not everyone's cup of tea, but that was peak Phish in my opinion.

Radiohead signed to EMI in 1991 and released their debut album, Pablo Honey, in 1993. Their debut single, "Creep", was a worldwide hit, and their popularity and critical standing rose with The Bends in 1995. Their third album, OK Computer (1997), is acclaimed as a landmark record and one of the greatest albums in popular music, with complex production and themes of modern alienation.
