Get The Knack - seriously underrated

Maybe it's just my love of power pop, or it's the fact that this band gets the unfortunate label of one hit wonder, but I just love this album. It went gold in 13 days and eventually sold five million copies, making it one of the most successful debuts in history. Yeah, lots know Good Girls Don't, but not many here, I bet, have heard, That's What the Little Girls Do. One of the Allmusic selections is Your Number or Your name. Frustrated has an official video, but I never hear it anymore.
Anyway, thank you Palmyra Delran for playing that first one on Underground Garage.

The Knack deserve our love if the only thing they ever did was end Disco's dominance.
Fun "Knack" facts - frontman Doug Fieger's older brother, Geoffrey was Jack Kevorkian's lawyer during his "Doctor Death" days. Also, Doug Fieger was a key individual (along with Dr. Demento) in Weird Al's rise to fame, praising and encouraging the "My Bologna" singer to pursue his dream.

The original bro band. Doug looks like the outcast

Great band. Great sound.
Cheech and Chong ruined “My Sharona” for me though….My scrotum….

I'm surprised that Kafka didn't start this thread.
I have never heard of this band but like what you posted. Thanks!

My Sharona has the greatest guitar solo ever.

Saw them open for the Ramones while touring for this album. Great in concert. Someone had stolen their equipment and the Ramones let them borrow theirs or vice versa.

Out of curiosity, are you under 40?

I think they got too much praise too fast, when My Sharona came out.
I heard things like, "the freshest thing since The Beatles" and stuff like that.
When things are being said like that, expectations go through the roof.

We did this song in a cover band and the other guitar player absolutely nailed the solo note-for-note. It was really impressive ... and makes you appreciate the creativity of the Knack guitar player to come up with it in the first place.

I know that song of course, but didn't know the artist. I'm more of a fan of the stuff in the OP.

good girls don't
She's your adolescent dream
School boy stuff
A sticky, sweet romance
And she makes you wanna scream
Wishing you could get inside her pants
And it's a teenage sadness
Everyone has got to taste
An in-between age madness
That you know you can't erase
'Til she's sitting on your face
Good girls don't
But I do
She's your adolescent dream
School boy stuff
A sticky, sweet romance
And she makes you wanna scream
Wishing you could get inside her pants
And it's a teenage sadness
Everyone has got to taste
An in-between age madness
That you know you can't erase
'Til she's sitting on your face
Good girls don't
But I do

as a teen, listening to this song in my girlfriend's parents' house, I got really nervous when certain lines came up.

Time Out For Trivia:
The girl on the picture sleeve of the 45 RPM single (remember those?) of “My Sharona” was the real-life inspiration for the song - Knack frontman Doug Feiger’s girlfriend Sharona Alperin.
After she and Doug broke up, she eventually became a successful realtor in the LA area - and yes, she is quite proud of her 15 minutes of fame:

ETA - not bad for over 60…

Great song!
Have you heard "She Makes Me Laugh" by The Monkees? That Knack song reminds me of it.
The CD it came from was a surprisingly good album.

My Sharona solo cover
I have watched a ton of the covers found on YouTube and I think this one is by far the best. It is just so fluid while showing you just how technical it is. Unbelievable!
