Fresh Debate: Beatles or Stones?

While discussing the anniversary of John Lennon's death yesterday, a co-worker argued that the Beatles were in fact not the biggest band ever. She gives that honor to the Rolling Stones. I know this has likely never been discussed before, but who do you see as the bigger act: The Beatles or The Rolling Stones?
With all due respect, I don't think the Stones carry the influence or the relevance of the Beatles. They've got the tunes, but they don't have the mythology. I don't think we'll be discussing Mick's passing forty years after the fact. Thoughts?

I enjoy the Stones substantially more than the Beatles FWIW

Beatles are over-rated, but I still give them the nod over the Stones.

Who’s better is a subjective debate based on personal tastes. Who’s bigger is almost certainly the Beatles.

Stones - no doubt about it.
Beatles only had a short life of maybe 6 years and they barley toured. The Stones still sell out and had better longevity and created the mold of what a rock band should be.

You make a good case for the Stones. Convince me that Mick and Keith and Co. have a bigger cultural imprint than the Beatles, now. You may sway me...

Most music fans can name every album the Beatles made and get most of the tracks too. I'm not sure the same could be said about any other band. Then factor in their huge solo success.
The Beatles were so prolific as songwriters they had to break up get all the music out.

The correct answer is Led Zeppelin.

Stones always boat raced the Beatles

Both were great.
But The Beatles kick started it all.

If not for the Beatles, none of us would've ever heard of the Stones.

The Beatles were more impactful but the Stones are my fav band

The Beatles are the biggest act ever. There is no argument. You may not like them, but by any standard there is no other answer.

Stones imo, and its not close. Then again my mom is a HUGE Beatles fan and I can barely go on long trips with her driving because she constantly plays the Beatles top 100 (insert criteria for list) that plays continuously on the satellite radio Beatles station.
