I never get tired of those. There is one huge fundamental issue that is destroying rock and roll that no one is addressing. Those kinds of girls, and indeed attractive women in general, don't like rock n roll anymore. Guys who go out to bars mostly do so to meet girls or support their friends in that endeavor. A small minority does so purely to see music. Since hot girls don't go to rock shows anymore, only the music fans go, and that's a much smaller number than the number of guys going to shows to nail hot girls.
What shows are the hot girls at? Country, big rap acts, DJs, ect. There's simply not a ton of hotties packing the bar for "The Black Keys". They're too busy getting plastered and grinding to 'Lil Wayne because rock isn't "fun" anymore. It's either mellow dramatic and lame, poppy and lame, hard and depressing, or something in between that doesn't quite rock and doesn't quite not.

Doug is a cool guy to hang out with and Ray has some insane vocals.
Are they playing with anyone now? Which one was the long haired guy?
Not to my knowledge, but I'm sure it won't be long. Ray is the long-haired guy and he collaborates with a lot of local bands.

And once again you prove that you know absolutely nothing about what's going on in this city
I guarantee you, Mud and Water didn't rebrand because it was making too much money.

With the over saturation of festivals, girls choose to do that over regular concerts.

Why don't you stop by the Station and find out. Maybe listen to 93.7 when they do their local spotlight or head down there for an all local battle of the bands. It's good stuff if you like that genre. It's certainly more exciting than folk rock.
I asked you to name some bands.

I can't search anything right now thanks to these damn work filters. I can post some tonight or this weekend.

Man, that sucks. I had a feeling that place wouldn't last, though. Not enough bands or music fans to support it.
Just tells me you don't actually go to any shows around town.

You would be wrong. I was in that giant mass of humanity that showed up for Radiopalooza. I go to a lot of shows between The Varsity and Chelseas. Chelsea's is my favorite bar & restaurant in the city. Just because I disagree doesn't mean I'm an idiot.

So you can't name a single Lafayette band off the top of your head?

I didn't say you were an idiot.
But thinking the Texas club has the best "local music scene" in BR surely doesn't paint you as someone with their ear to the ground.

Any BR bands that you've seen live that you like?
Prom Date was pretty good. There was a nice run in the mid-aughts, but it just kind of petered out.

Hey guys ... Jumping in here
The m+w address was 174 south not 150 mayflower
So don't think this xo place is the same thing but man I hope it is
And the main reason M+W is not operating there is because the partner I had refused to run it like a real business . You know accounting and payroll. I have arguably one of the best summer / fall lineups in BR without a home.
We weren't making a million bucks, But I have too much going (feature film career and a Nola venue)on to put up with shadiness so pulled out
The assumptions and speculation is entertaining though

I meant as far as having the most variety of bands playing the most original music for the most people. NOT quality of music (which is in the ear of the listener). There's a lot of country acts and a lot of country fans. Do I like country? F&%k no, but I can acknowledged that there's more of them making more music than there are acoustic guitar singer/songwriters and indie pop bands in BR. Just because you don't (and I don't) listen to it doesn't mean that a metric f*&k-ton of people don't.

Who holds the lease to the space? What kind of investment would it take to keep the place going? What kind of revenue/expenses were ya'll seeing? I know how to run a business and I know some friends who might be interested in such an opportunity.
