For me, it was “In The Beginning/Shout At The Devil” by Motley Crue. I was camping with my family and a buddy’s family. My buddy played it for me on his boom box. I bet I listened to it 100 times that weekend.

I would love to have been a teen when “Immigrant Song” came out. I can’t imagine there had ever been anything like that song before. So heavy and awesome!

I think about that all the time.

All time would be: White Rabbit
When released: Smells Like Teen Spirit.

I can still remember driving down Dalrymple and hearing it on KLSU. Took a while before it made the regular stations.

“Smells Like Teen Spirit” is definitely in my top 5. “Outshined” by Soundgarden and “Stinkfist” by Tool are in my top 5, too.

My first access to music was via older siblings 8 tracks. Earliest mindblowers:
Deep Purple - Lazy, Alice Cooper- Halo of Flies, there was this new thing called MOOG synthesizer which had an entire album of nothing but sounds it would make

Cat Scratch Fever (Ted Nugent) - I was very young and thought it was such a cool song.

I was 12 when Boston's debut LP came out. Among the sonic awesomeness on that record, "Foreplay / Long Time" just completely and utterly blew me away. I'd never heard anything like that at the time, and it opened the door to Rush, Yes, and a lot of amazing music.

I recall hearing "Stairway to Heaven" on classic rock radio as a child in the 1980s and being mesmerized by its dark, foreboding, almost mystical qualities. It was some time before I knew the song was by the legendary Led Zeppelin, as you couldn't go home and Google the lyrics, back then. That's really a weird-arse song to a child's ears; it stood-out from everything else I'd heard.

Tangled Up in Blue when my dad played it for me when I was about 7-8 years old, maybe younger than that.

I've been a Dylan fan ever since.

Song/Video combination, but Metallica's "One". 12 year old me saw that in 1989 and it instantly pulled me in. I had previously had only a passing interest in music, mostly whatever pop WFMF was playing, but this changed me completely and sent me in a totally different direction

What Is And What Should Never Be - Zeppelin

Was my first time with the crabgrass. That slide solo came in and I melted.

Bloodrock- DOA

I was about 9 years old when this came out. Hearing the graphic description of death with the sirens in the background definitely blew my mind.

Welcome to the Jungle. Someone in my class had a walkman with that tape in with it and was passing it around.
