On air online if you’d like. Mine is (was) Monroe's 91.1 back in the day before they became 91.X, awesome dj's and was a very legit college radio station that played some great/obscure stuff. Got me through high school and part of college. Was an extremely sad day when they morphed into 91.X and started playing Sum 41 and other crap like that.

91.1 KNLU in the 90's was my favorite radio station of all time. It was just that good. Just incredible. I wish our radio station could have been 1/10th as good.

102.5 in BR when it first started in the 70’s

“Loose radio” would play anything, from Frank Zappa to Bob Dylan. From Zevon to Judas Priest...

Central Texas has had some good radio stations going back at least to the 90's. It was always cool to be driving and able to flip the dial to hear some Americana or Texas country.

I haven't had a favorite radio station since KLOL died.

KMBQ was my favorite back in the day.
quote:

KMBQ was formerly the call letters of a 100,000 watt FM radio station broadcasting at 93.7 MHz from Shreveport, Louisiana, USA, and serving the Ark-La-Tex region. For several years in the early 1970s, KMBQ broadcast easy listening programming (a.k.a. "elevator music"), with the slogan "Your Beautiful Music Station". In 1975, KMBQ abruptly (and shockingly to many older listeners in this Bible Belt market) changed its format to Album Oriented Rock (AOR), operating thus from 1975 to 1985.

quote:

in 1975 this local community of audiophiles and fans of rock music prevailed upon KMBQ's management to serve the Ark-La-Tex region with a different music programming format -- album oriented rock.

quote:

In its AOR format, KMBQ was known for innovative programming such as "The Midnight Album Hour", during which entire rock music LP albums were played every midnight without commercial interruption to facilitate off-the-air taping, including giving tapers suggested time ques when to flip tape cassettes; "two-for-Tuesdays" and "Triple Play weekends". During this period (1975-1985), KMBQ sponsored many touring rock groups to perform live concerts for the Ark-La-Tex market, usually at the Louisiana State Fairground's Hirsch Memorial Coliseum, located in Shreveport.

Rarely listen to the radio, but I’ll do 90.3 (jazz) for background noise or 91.1 (KLSU) when I don’t feel like actually selecting my own music.

KPIG out of Freedom, CA is really great, but they charge to stream.

I honestly don't listen to the radio. All the music I listen to does not air on the radio. It's been that way ever since high school.

98.3 The Penguin out of Wilmington, NC.

96.1 The Rocket out of Mobile, AL used to have psychedelic Sundays that were awesome. They stopped a few years back.

107.3 Birmingham Mountain Radio our of Birmingham, AL is pretty good.

Thacker Mountain Radio out of Oxford, MS.

And of course WWOZ.

Honorable mention: Margaritaville Radio when it plays world music and not the trop-rock stuff.

I worked there from the transition from 88.7 to 91.1. It was also the full transition of going from vinyl and carts to all CD. The manager made sure there would be no trying to incorporate 911 into the new frequency or slogan. Also involved in this was a call letter change from KNLU to KXUL.
