I would say that Basin Street Blues is more of a jazz tune than blues.
For jazz, Take Five is an obvious choice.

Great selection there Souljah. All Miles in that era is good.
To name a single favorite jazz song is impossible. There's so many by Miles, Trane, Bird, Duke, Monk, and Satchmo.

I'm sorry. I just really don't care for Dave Brubeck. He sounds a little too "European" to me. Dave Brubeck sounds like a bunch of musically talented accountants trying to play jazz. It's very cerebral and witty but not "jazzy". It sounds like he doesn't really "feel" the jazz.
When someone doesn't "feel" the music they are performing, then the music doesn't sound "authentic". It's kinda like when your white chick friends try to rap about being gangsta, or when people who have never had hard times sing the blues. The emotion is missing.

One Night Only (The March) - Trombone Shorty
Do Whatcha Wanna - Rebirth Brass Band
Concierto for Cootie - Duke Ellington
Open Up Wide - Chase

I love my reggae, but jazz is the true SOUL of music. Reggae is great, but also pretty one-dimensional. With jazz- you don't know what is going down, and I appreciate that.

This is a bit like asking which of my children I love the most...
I love lots of jazz tunes for lots of different reasons...but if I have to pick one and only one, it is probably Petite Fleur by Sidney Bechet.
