And

I hear the son of a former New Orleans DA, might have turned a few heads with his talent. His name escapes me, but I hear he’s kind of a big deal.

Phil Anselmo

I went to school in Baton Rouge with some kids named Anselmo who lived on Anselmo Lane (when it was gravel). I always wondered if Phil was kin to them.

And cousin Mickey Gilley.

Their other cousin Jimmy Swaggart is also no slouch when it comes to honky tonk piano and is a pretty good singer.

You missed Jimmy Buffett, Chris Ledoux, Faith Hill, Marty Stuart, Charley Pride, Afroman, Randy Houser, LeAnn Rimes, Soulja Boy, Ray J, Conway Twitty, and Three Doors Down.

Twitty and Britney Spears were both born in Mississippi but raised elsewhere.

Put Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama together and you have quite a list.

If you combine those three with Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and maybe Texas you have probably more musical talent than the rest of America combined.
