I'd have to say fact. I'm biased but it's tough to beat the music and concert opportunities that I grew up with.

Fact.

This generation or whatever they call themselves missed it.

Absolute fact! Accomplished musicians playing real instruments, not synthesizers in place of strings, brass and woodwinds.

I’m not saying you’re wrong but you should actually look for some good music. There are still plenty of great musicians playing real instruments. I have a feeling you have your mind made up about it though and probably won’t.

Great point. Those lighters really made a difference in the quality of music and concerts.

No doubt. I'm jealous of the one stage monster jams and one day festivals they got to see.

I got no love for today's music festivals that expect you to pay 200 bucks for a 300 act lineup on 7 stages in hopes of planning your schedule just right to catch the 2 that you actually want to see.

I think concerts were about 6 bucks in the 70s

I paid maybe 12 bucks to see the Rolling Stones, my friends wouldn't go, said no one was worth that much money. According to a inflation calculator, 12 dollars in 1975 is 56 dollars today, but for the last Stone's tour I couldn't find a ticket for less than 500-600 bucks.

I agree, artists from the baby boom generation had genuine talent and created timeless classics that have endured. Why do you think so many “artists” of today have covered so many songs of yesteryear? They recognize quality and accept the fact that they cannot outclass those artists so they just put out a cover version of a hit single.

Those boomer musicians were ripping off poor blues musicians. Get off your hi horse. I have seen great musicians from all era's. The boomer musicians were great....but what bands you heard were limited by the record company contracts. Today, anybody can put out music and yes, a lot of it is crap. But there is a lot of great music out there too. But in the 60's you were guided to what was good by the record companies......now it takes effort to find the good stuff.

Fact! Today's groups won't be releasing any 50th anniversary box sets.

This is so dumb. There are TONS of bands around today that will that kinda clout in the future.

FALSE for concerts

Sound quality has improved infinitely since that time. Additionally - the paradigm shifted around the late 00s to where a band's main source of income was ticket sales rather than record sales because of piracy, streaming, etc. This has forced bands to improve their live show. Sometimes this is a concentrated effort and others it's just a natural byproduct of simply playing live more.

I bet the Silent Generation thought boomer music sucked and wasn’t real “music” like back in their day.

I think I paid around $150 per ticket for their concert in Dallas.

You have a point, and there are some talented musicians today but not as many as in the past. For example: any rap “artist”. Anybody who thinks that bullshite is music is just crazy and I would beg to differ with anybody who thinks the vast majority of those “artists” have any semblance of musical talent.

As for the baby boomer talent question, this is coming straight from a gen X’er, and last I checked my horse was a Shetland pony.
