While the damages sought seem egregious, the suit itself is valid.

First time I heard the song I thought it was a ripoff. It’s not his only song that sounds way too similar to something else, either.

I bet if someone wanted to they could find multiple songs pre dating lets get it on that it "ripped off"

That song “Perfect” (I think that’s the title) sounds exactly like Unchained Melody.

If this is true.

Sheeran should just buy the rights like Vanilla Ice did with Queen`s "Under Pressure" and call it a day. Then he wins and they win.

Whoever has rights to Marvin Gaye's catalog sues everyone. They are the ambulance chaser of the music industry. They just sues Pharrell for Blurred Lines (and won). Ed will settle to make it go away.
