This album fricking sucks.

It's good. Kinda reminds me of their first two albums sound wise, just in terms of rawness, but still feels different just because of the emotion behind it.

Was really disappointed, other than The Part of Him, I didn't like anything at first. When Walter Went Crazy is a good cut

What?

I totally disagree.

It's boring and uninspired.

I am a big DBT fan and think this is far and away their worst album...the best songs on English Oceans would be filler on other albums.

Before the release I read an article-interview of Patterson Hood about the release. He talked about how good the Mike Cooley songs on the album were...

I now understand why he pumped Cooley's songs so much - because they all song like Patterson Hood songs.

Very disappointed in the album and makes me wonder if they have "jumped the shark" so to speak as a band.

Completely disagree, as I think Brighter Than Creation's Dark is a great, great album. I like Isbell, but I think his fans tend to overrate him. He was always the third wheel.

yeah, my favorite record of their is still SRO... that was pre-Isbell...

I liked the Isbell records too, but for some reason have no desire to listen to this new one...

aww, frick it... if its on Spotify, I'll give it a go while I work..

He's a better writer than both hood or Cooley

And I think he's an a-hole

I disagree that he is a better writer than Cooley. I've wished Cooley would go solo for a few years now. I've never been a big fan of Hood, outside of Southern Rock Opera.

i've just been around him quite a few times and he's always been pretty antisocial.

of course this was also before he quit drinking, and once after he did quit drinking.

Not sure I equate being anti-social to being an a-hole

He may be more prolific than Cooley, but I dont think he's better...

I'll take quality over quantity in this case..
