It was on sale at K-Mart for $8.00. Quite the deal in those days...didn't even have my first CD player yet.

I didn't buy it, but I remember the first CD gifted to me. Hootie and the Blowfish's first album. My sister bought it for me. Didn't realize that was a core memory for me until this thread.

The Singles soundtrack
Looking back on the early 90’s, it felt like a Music Revolution
The Sinlges Soundtrack was such a perfect collection of songs that perfectly represents the early 90’s to me.

Around 1992
Eagles Greatest Hits - I think I bought Volume 1 & 2 together
I don't think I ever bought another cassette
I put a CD player in my '97 Jeep Cherokee when I bought it in 2001- it came with a tape deck. Damn I miss that car
I still have my HUGE CD wallet- sometimes I think about loading it up in the car with me for old times sake. WAY more dangerous than texting/driving

First one I recall buying with my own money was Pearl Jam’s Ten probably in 1992. Music store at Oakwood Mall in Gretna, I believe. I was about 12 years old.
My first vehicle was a 1989 Silverado with a cassette player. I don’t think I bought any more cassettes after getting into CDs, but I made a ton of mix tapes to play in my truck. I didn’t totally part with cassettes until 1999 when I got a new truck with a CD player.

Late 1993.
I was 13 and my mom let me go to Music Center in Gonzales while she went to Walmart.
Got Doggystyle and In Utero and they didn’t care that I was underage.

Bop Til You Drop - Ry Cooder - in 1990. It was recorded in 1979 and released on vinyl then but it was the first digitally recorded album and the 1990 CD was one of the first CD's available.
I bought it and a CD player at New Generation.
I bought almost no cassettes, instead I'd buy albums and record cassettes for the car (and Walkman). In 1991 I bought my first car with a CD player. (Honda Prelude). It was a game changer.
Last year I bought a new Subaru Outback with a CD player, one of the few cars that still have one. It's never been played. Now I just do audiobooks via Bluetooth.

The first CD I bought was Man-o-War - The Triumph of Steel out of a bargain bin. I liked the fold out cover.
The only music I owned myself up until then was some Weird Al and They Might Be Giants albums on cassette. Good times.
