The 90's: A lot of old timers are too old to appreciate it, but I am glad I grew during that time. Rock ruled. West Coast Rap (the best rap music ever written and recorded) was on the airwaves. Country was still country. MTV was actually a station that played music. A lot of great artists who were associated with other decades were prominent (Guns n Roses, Beastie Boys, Aerosmith, Duran Duran, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers...).

Yeah, I'm also really fond of the 90's, mostly because of grunge. Pearl jam, Nirvana, Alice In Chains, etc.

The 90s, because that is the decade I grew up listening to music. Even the hippity hoppity boopity boppity from that era has a little place in my heart. I am also a big fan of the 80s new wave.

Probably the 00s. I realize I'll probably be the only one to say then, but there was so much good stuff. Really every decade has a ton of great shite and a ton of crap though.

Probably the 80s, because both the underground and the pop was pretty great. 1984 was the greatest year in pop music history (Like a Virgin, 1984, Purple Rain, Born in the USA) and the underground was still churning out Double Nickels on the Dime and Zen Arcade. Just an embarrassment of riches. Hip hop is born, punk develops into hardcore, new wave has its hurrah, disco morphs into dance. OK, mainstream rock kinda sucked, and hair metal is an abomination, but no decade is perfect.

I gotta roll with the 70's. Psychadelia, Southern rock, funk, blues-rock, the dawn of heavy metal, prog-rock, folk-rock, punk, R&B. The lone blemish is Disco, but it's a small price to pay for all the great musical treats the rest of the decade had to offer.

A lot of great college/indie rock (REM, The Smiths, Replacements, Pixies, The Cure, Husker Du, Sonic Youth etc.)
Had some great punk with bands like Minor Threat, Black Flag, Bad Brains, Naked Raygun.
New Wave was going. There was some good pop and r&b.
Metal was starting to become more interesting (with the exception of hair metal).
Run DMC, LL Cool J, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, NWA was happening.

1965 -1975 is a runaway winner but 1982 -1992 was an amazing 10 year run of music too.
To the poster who said the 00s, no, just no. We are all entitled to our opinions but the 2000s were an absolutely horrendous decade musically. A massive drop off from the 6 prior decades of music.
