1. That video is awful

2. Dubstep in it's current form is total garbage. Skrillex and the just the general increase in bpm has turned the genre into the awful trash that most people think of "dubstep" as these days.

3. Some of the 2008-2010 dubstep was pretty good (Benga, Skream, Burial, Kode9, RSD). Not my favorite stuff in the world, but not bad if you're into downtempo and good basslines and dub-ish beats

For instance, one of my old favorites:

Skream - Rutten

Not too similar to this abortion

not hating or anything, but i just don't get the appeal to electronic music. it only seems like it would be tolerable on lots of drugs.

Dubstep is awesome. Skrillex sucks. Although I have been into more trap recently than dub. <3 heRobust.

Speaking of trap, can anyone explain to me the mass appeal of this crap? It's pretty terrible IMO

Here's a Baauer song, the trap dj responsible for the harlem shake song.

Wouldn't be bad if someone rapped over it, other than that it's boring as hell..

There's only a handful of good rappers. Usually a ton of bad rap songs end up being popular because the beat behind it is so catchy. Trap just takes the catchy beat, removes the crappy rapper, and adds a bit more body to it.

Dubstep was alright a few years ago before it went mainstream in America. Basically only Americans like it now. I went to a festival in Australia a few months back and they absolutely hate dubstep. Aussies are huge trance and hardstyle fans.

Removing the rap is what makes it boring. Trap beats don't have anything going on....

I'll take more synths over someone saying "arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, arse, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance" with the music. But to each his own.

I'm sure some of you EDM and dubstep fans are cool people. But I'll be honest, I've never met anyone I would hang out with who listens to it. To be fair, the genres I like (indie-folk) have a lot of douchey fans too.

I just don't get the appeal, but I don't do drugs.
