He may not be the fastest or even the best (impossible to determine anyway), but as far as having his own style (which is harder than it sounds), his wailing crisp control and feel will always rank him with the best IMO.

He's one of my top 5 favorite guitarists for sure. Absolutely love listening to his melodic, at sometimes ominous solos.

I watched a live concert of him in Berlin(I believe) a few months ago on Paladium in HD, and he was awesome. I dvr'ed it so I could watch it when I get drunk and wanna relax.

He's a very tasteful, emotional player, a Master of the Bend, with great tone. I thought he spoke the absolute truth on "Time".

Just wondering how many were lucky enough to see Gilmour/Floyd?
I was very blessed to be a teenager in an era (70's) of such great concerts. Saw Pink Floyd on the Animals Tour 1977 at the LSU Assembly Center.......for $8.50

Every time I hear that "Comfortably Numb" solo, I have an almost out-of-body experience; such a natural high, just listening to that solo.

Was there also.
Was just getting into them, always liked the 'hits' I heard on the radio, but was just starting to get into their whole albums, and that concert put me over the top. Especially Mr. Gilmour. Incredible rendition of Crazy Diamond, especially coming back from intermission like that.
I love his emotion filled playing style.

Love the Floyd (and the hopefully-not-temporary station on XM!) and all these guys individually.
I think lost in all the Gilmour/Waters talk is how great Richard Wright was...RIP.
Solo stuff makes you realize how much he contributed to Pink Floyd.

I got to see Gilmour 3 times in London at the Royal Festival Hall...once in June 2001, and then twice in January 2002. Rick Wright joined him on stage for one of the 2002 shows. (released on this DVD, some of you may have seen it: David Gilmour in Concert)
David Gilmour doesn't get the credit he deserves. Unfortunately, all the sensationalistic, over-the-top guitarists get all the hype.

His 'Broken China' solo album is one of my all time favorites!

That's exactly the reason he's one of my favorites.
Fat Old Sun is absolutely amazing.
Saw 'em in 94 in Texas Stadium. A light rain started falling during the concert and you could see the lasers and lights reflecting off the rain drops. Incredible.
