WTF is this crap. I know i'm not the first post about how bad country is these days but I can't recall there being anything this bad before. I was unfortunate to catch this song while flipping through terrestrial radio.

What about Simpson, Isbel, Zac Brown, or Stapleton?

Zac Brown shouldn't be mentioned with those guys.

You may not like what he did with Jackyl and Hyde, but it was innovative and different, especially "Heavy is the Head" with Chris Cornell. I don't care for FGL either, but they're definitely a break from the stale norm.

Sub Cody Jinks for Zac Brown and that's a good percentage of what I listen to

Simpson
Isbell
Stapleton
Cody Jinks
John Moreland
This might be a weird one to throw in, but I love Kacey Musgraves

What's with the zac brown hate? Dude is super talented and his band is top notch. Not too many show I can go to with that sort of female following and also truly enjoy the musicianship

Two words: Beautiful Drug. He tried to create a country/EDM crossover hit and it was one of the worst songs of the decade.

Not weird at all. Add Brent Cobb and Margo Price. I'll even throw in Miranda Lambert 70% of the time (also she gets points for being a John Moreland fan).

ZBB looked their fan base in the face and said frick you we're gonna make shitty music whether you like it or not. It's even more aggravating seeing as how talented they are. Beautiful Drug is an unforgivable sin.

That's stuff that's put out mainstream on the radio is no longer country. It's pop with a twang. It's hard to say real country is dead the day Chris stapletons new album comes out. Go listen. It's very good.

Chris Stapleton is hardly country though. He's like white guy soul blues stuff.

His Jackyl and Hyde album was all about doing things completely different from the stuff that made him famous. It's almost exclusively expirimental of sorts, a concept album. For example:

Beautiful Drug :yak:
Junkyard
Mango Tree
Heavy is the Head (with Chris Cornell)
