Is there such a thing as concert etiquette. I assume most people go to a concert to hear the music. Yes, everyone is there to have a good time but it’s not like it’s a party.

Two scenarios

1. The person sitting beside you is singing so loud you can’t tune them out. I paid to hear the artist, not them.

2. The people sitting in front of you feel the urge to dance so they stand the whole concert. You either look at their backs or stand also.

What’s applies here: “I paid my damn money so I can do what I want to do” or is there some unwritten code.

I went to a concert this weekend and the person next to me sang loud and way off key the whole show and made movements with her hands like she was having a seizure. There was also the drunk couple behind who must hate ballads because that’s when they talked to each other the loudest. Last year I went to a 2.5 hour concert and was sitting about as far away from the stage as you can get and still be in the building and yet the row in front of me stood the entire time.

What type of music?

You go to a concert and just sit the entire time?

You sound like you might be getting too old to go to concerts.

If i want to dance, im gonna stand up and dance.

Drunk people singing loudly suck, but it is what it is.

BUT, if you are next to me and talking loudly the whole time, im gonna tell you to stfu. Cant stand loudass talkers at shows.

The singing part is an issue. That does suck at shows.

But look grandpa, its a rock and roll concert

People are going to stand up and dance. You're gonna have to deal with it

The worst are the folks who record the ENTIRE concert on their phone.

The most recent concerts I went to were Alice Cooper, Garth Brooks, Stevie Nicks/Pretenders and Paul McCartney.

It was the Garth concert where we stood for 2.5 hours, the Alice crowd was raunchy as expected. during the Stevie Nicks concert the drunk couple talked throughout the concert. McCartney ...... zero complaints.

I didn’t want to stand for 2.5 hours. I’ve never been to a concert where I sat the entire time .........My point was there some middle point between all or nothing.

Don't go to concerts that seat more than a House of Blues and you won't have that problem.

People who sit down during concerts are the worst. Unless it’s a symphony, you shouldn’t ruin it for everyone by getting upset when people stand up.

I went to a Tedeschi Trucks show at the Saenger in Pcola a few months back.

There were only 4 people in the entire theater standing and dancing. Guess who they were standing in front of...

You should act like everyone else acts at the show. IF everyone is sitting down, sit down. If everyone is standing up, well...

These people in front of me were young and seemed like they just liked the attention of standing in everyone's way more than expressing their freedom. frick that.

Also, shut up.

if you're the only one standing up, you're a douche.

If everyone is, party on.

1. The person sitting beside you is singing so loud you can’t tune them out. I paid to hear the artist, not them.

politely ask them to sing a little quieter or talk quieter, most people barely realize it and, generally speaking, are nice enough with a simple request.

As far as the standing thing it really depends on the type of concert. If someone wants to stand that is their decision IMO, if nobody is standing I personally just sit down except for certain songs but its usually not what I would prefer.

Well then sit down and miss the visuals, you can still hear fine. Gonna be tough to get a coordinated stand/sit schedule going in the middle of concert.

At least they shut up and you can watch it on YouTube later. Recording video of concerts used to be waaaaaay more difficult!

I hate sitting down listening to music but I'm not going to stand if everyone else is sitting.

As for singing or talking, I'll tell you to pipe down in a hurry.
