If anything, overrated.

I think OP was referring to music snobs who love to hate on them. They’ve become the new Nickelback. The only thing worse than music snobs are book snobs. Books and music are art. Tastes are subjective. People who denounce them as “trash” or “garbage”, who cares? I’m not a fan of country music and don’t know a Luke Bryan from a Luke Combs, but my SO is. I got her/us tix to see Reba for Christmas. Dreaded going, but loved it. Like what you like, don’t apologize for it and ignore the snobs.

And whoever said alt artists are mimicking Coldplay is clearly not listening to current alt.

To tie this In with a previous thread, Viva La Vida ripped off a Joe Satriani song note for note and Coldplay was sued over it. Listen at 0:50
If I Could Fly

Walton and Johnson was all over that back in the height of the hate on Coldplay era.

Coldplay is Radiohead for people who don’t like Radiohead

I'll disagree with this a bit. Coldplay (at least the first two albums) is for people who really love The Bends.

That's a very apt analogy. Well done sir.

People can crap on Coldplay all they want but Chris Martin called his shot back in 1998 and they eventually launched it out of the park. Confidence goes a long way...

We're going to be so big!

The first three albums are great. Rapid decline after that

I really like Parachutes and Rush of Blood. After that I lost interest.

That’s a false assumption that many people make. Not all music is art. You could put a canvas with the best paints and brushes in front of me and I can promise you the result will not be art. Same with music, just because you record a song doesn’t make it art and doesn’t mean it needed to be recorded in the first place.

The process with record labels and recording the performers you mentioned and ones like them makes it nothing more than mass produced product. It’s actually the opposite of what art is and should be.

The 4 part harmonies on the outro section are amazing.

That part is legit, but I don't think it holds up to 'Yellow' despite both songs getting overplayed.

They lost me after the second album which is their best.

They are talented and capable of making really good music

Which is why the formulaic dull work they've put out for the better part of a decade is frustrating

I haven’t listened to any new albums in entirety but now thinking I would say the first 4 are a pretty good listen.

I don’t know anything about the rest.

Like I said earlier Parachutes is really good, rush of blood also pretty legit.
