The European flair of Clapton's is much more refined than that of Duane's endless jam session playing. It's just better. He sold more, he gets played more, it's more creative.

I'd kill for a pristine soundboard copy of the Tampa show with Duane. The only thing available is a horrid audience recording.
Derek and the Dominos are one of my all-time favorite projects. Layla , both the album itself and the jamming sessions surrounding it, was so awesome. Key to the Highway, Anyday, the title track, Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad?...all that stuff is some of the best recorded guitar ever. Clapton and Allman really got the best out of each other.

You're either forgetting or downplaying his ridiculous amount of session work. All of those classic muscle shoals albums had Duane on them
