Since I honestly couldn't name a song that has come out in the past decade (because they're all so terribly unmusical). Literally, they go nowhere musically, and are wholly forgetable...so come back to the 90s with me.

This stuff was melodic and sometimes powerful.

I Love you Lord and I Lift my Voice

Thy Word is a Lamp unto my Feet and a Light unto my Path

You are my All in All

I must say, Hillsong improved on Mullins's Awesome God slightly, but they haven't done anything since.

It has sadly been mostly downhill since the Getty's and Townend collaborated on In Christ Alone in 2001.

Which is why nothing can really compare with the likes of And Can it Be? Songs of Praise style

and Praise to the Lord the Almighty. What an organ.

Ponder anew what the almighty can do, who with his love doth befriend thee.

If DC Talk ever does a real reunion tour, I will be there and feel very nostalgic.

I didn't include stuff on popular radio, dare I say, borderline secular music.

It's good! Them and Jars of Clay.

DC Talk

Their 1998 show at the Cajundome during the "Supernatural" tour still ranks as one of the better live shows I've ever seen. They were that good...

It got to be quite literal at times after the 56th repeat...

I saw them a couple times. Absolutely the highest energy shows start to finish I’ve ever seen. Phenomenal performers.

Last year Michael Tait hinted towards some shows happening this year but I suppose Covid changed those plans. For now all we have is some reunion clips from the Jesus Freak Cruise shows.

Absolutely

Newsboys GOAT

quote:

When the toast has burned
And all the milk has turned
And Captain Crunch is waving farewell
When the Big One finds you
May this song remind you
That they don't serve breakfast in hell

That being said, Shine was my favorite song growing up.

eta: I guess kids can't really say that anymore. Like what 8 or 10 year old is gonna say that a _______ song is their favorite song.

But back then, for five or six short years, Christian music tracked with what was popular. And it was lovely.

What version of the Newsboys?

Nothing against Michael Tait, but my favorite version was with Peter Furler and Phil Joel. Of course, now there is Newsboys United and all three of them are together.

I have a picture with this version of the band and the song Entertaining Angels was probably my favorite with Shine right up there. I have the Shine book.
