Better voice? Sturg is jn another league vocally.

So because Britney Spears is more popular and commercial than someone like Leon bridges or Alabama shakes that means she has a better voice?

No; it's catchier songs that appeal to the masses more

You're telling me that you think Sturgill is more vocally gifted than Stapleton?

Bob Dylan is one of the most popular artists of all time, that disproves your theory of whoever has the best voice is most popular.

I don't believe I theorized that. Dylan is an extraordinary lyricist. I'm sure Sturgill is good in that department as well, but Stapleton clearly is more talented in terms of vocal ability. Now does that alone make him more popular? No. It does, however, make him likely to be appealing to a broader audience... which was my only point.

I wouldn't say clearly. I love both their voices. Prefer Sturgill sometimes, prefer Chris' sometimes.

I'm saying vocal ability, as in ability to stay in tune, on pitch, and hit a large range of notes (and better vibrato). Technical ability.

That's your opinion. Stapleton is good at what he does And it's great that he's in the mainstream. He's still not as good as sturgill or pushing as many boundaries.

Sturgill and Stapleton are both incredible artists. I don't compare them against each other but more against the other shite out there. Sturgill- metamodern sounds in country music is one my favorite albums. I really enjoy Stapleton - Traveller too. I've tried to get into Isabel and respect him as a songwriter but I can't really get into most of his songs.

I love the album. I really like the steel drivers too. For me it would be

Songwriting
Isbell>Simpson>Stapleton

Voice
Stapleton>Isbell>Simpson

I just couldn't get into sturgills last album. Just my opinion. I still really like southeastern and the steel drivers first two albums are the tits if you at all like banjo and fiddle.

Metamodern is one of the best albums of the last 10 years.

Not one bad song on it. Extremely high replay value.

When I read that Stapleton used to write bro country songs for Luke Bryan among others I was like no thank you.

He isn't in the same league as Sturgill.
