First, just from the Use Your Illusion albums, Estranged is a better ballad than Novemeber Rain up until that stupid video was released.
To insinuate that AFD killed hair metal or put an end to it? You're joking right? It is absolutely laughable. Who do you think made up (being generous here) 90% of their fans? I know there's crossover but that album didn't change the landscape. Not one bit. It's just a great hard rock album. People didn't stop buying or listening to Crue, Poison, Winger, or Bullet Boys because of that album.
Warrant's Cherry Pie and Poison's Unskinny Bop bullshite were still topping the charts as of 91 and you couldn't turn to MTV without those videos being played along with Cinderella's "we all need, a little shelter-her."
There were grittier bands in LA without the acid wash denim & teased hair fans. They only picked up where the Stones left off in the mid 70's. The only thing GNR managed to do was survive the Grunge on slaught along with Metallica.

Not sure what you find so funny about that statement.

I agree.
For me, for every great song on Use your Illusions you get a song that just doesn't hit the mark. On II, you get three awesome songs, Civil War, 14 Years(greatest GNR song), Yesterday, followed by a cringeworthy knocking on heavens door rendition. Then a WTF get in the ring song. then 2 meh, then alright we're back to kick arse rock with Pretty Tied Up and Locomotive to wincing agony of So fine.

I’ve always liked the UYI Albums, I think both are really good. Your breakdown of II is spot on I also always thought the alt lyrics for Don't Cry we’re better
The other great thing about these records are the songs Izzy Stradlin sings all or at least a big part: Dust N Bones, Double Talkin Jive, You Ain’t the First, 14 Years and Pretty Tied Up. When Izzy left the band was never the same

Were you a teenage girl in the 80s?

ehhh. Some even say Myles is a better guitarist than Tremonti. so thats quite a statement my man
Ummmm no. If you know anything about lead rock guitar, Tremonti is unquestionably better than Slash. Myle is decent at jazz and blues, but seriously, just no.
