Rubber Band Man by the Spinners has to be in the discussion.

The use of the superlative suffix "-est" suggests the former. If he'd been merely talking about those two songs, he would have used the comparative suffix "-er".

You didn't read his post, did you?

Up Vote for Dr John's "Right Place, Wrong Time"

Down Vote for Stevie Wonder's "Superstition"

Chicago Manual of Style as it relates to his subject notwithstanding I find it hard to come to the conclusion you did when reading his entire post.

I had to listen to DJ because I wanted to be fair in this comparison, and I hadn’t heard “in the right place” in a while. It’s pretty “funky”, his voice and a couple of the breaks funk the song up pretty good.

I am a little biased because I have been listening to Stevie a good bit lately. I have come to the realization that SW is better than Michael, Prince, and anybody making music today. He might be the GOAT. Superstition is one of my favorite songs, lately.

With all that said, I think Superstition is slightly more “funky”. Thank you for bringing this up

He used one term in the title and another in the body. You could reasonably reach either conclusion, though the use of "kitchen debate" suggests a bigger argument of major importance.

Based in the responses, most people interpreted it as "funkiest".

Chicago style is for history nerds. We APA around here.

Superstition was actually written by Stevie Wonder for Jeff Beck, who played it first. Wonder did a cover of his own song.

Neither of the two. Have you ever heard of The Meters? Zigabo is the drummer who can hold a groove like no one else.

Wonder actually recorded it first (with Beck on drums), then decided to allow Beck to record it on his own. He was gonna allow Beck to release it first, but the label forced him to make it the first single from Talking Book before Beck's album came out.

So unless he sold the rights to the song to Beck (which he didn't), it's the other way around.

You got me on a sample chain.

When you said Cameo, I thought of Dennis Edwards - Don't Look Any Further

When I thought of Dennis, I thought of EPMD's Paid in full which sampled it. That song also sampled The Soul Searchers - Ashley's Roachclip (The break in that one at about 3:31 has been sampled it lots of hip hop songs...)
