I have come to the realization that SW is better than Michael
I doubt this is seriously in question. Michael was, obviously a top tier entertainer and did a few interesting things, musically, but Stevie is a legit musical genius.
A closer comparison would be between Stevie and Prince - Prince was more of an evolution of Funk into the pop/funk Minneapolis sound (which was 95% Prince to the rest of the world). Stevie had a broad range of skills - instrumentally he could hold his own with anybody, very capable and expressive voice and his musical instincts were outstanding.

He might be the GOAT.
Certainly warrants consideration for all the reasons noted.
(ETA: For purposes of this thread, James Brown, PFunk and The Meters should got top consideration, although Dr. John was quite funky at times.)

The question is, a better what. Singer? Entertainer? Musician? Composer?
The first question I'd say it's close to even. The second MJ by a fair amount (mainly due to Stevie's physical limitations). The last two, Stevie by a country mile.

He used one term in the title and another in the body. You could reasonably reach either conclusion, though the use of "kitchen debate" suggests a bigger argument of major importance.
The fact he gave two options in the dreaded up/down pole makes me willing to bet dimes to dollars that my interpretation of his intent is correct.

Based in the responses, most people interpreted it as "funkiest".
That meant they read what they thought he meant instead of taking the extra moment to see what he actually meant. Fair game either way but again I am almost positive he did not mean for it to be a discussion of the funkiest funk song ever.

Chicago style is for history nerds. We APA around here.
We really don't do either here, have you ever read a truly APA approved post of more than a single sentence on tOT where this was originally posted?

I'm just fricking around. If it's that important to you, you are right.

Glad to know that someone appreciated the sharing. Yes, I love Juna's orgasm faces when she plays. She lives and performs in the USA now. Also love her saxophonist friend Harumo. Wish the two of them would produce more original stuff, funky or jazzy.
Funk No. 1
Also, don't sleep on Alissia - she has met and played with Bootsy Collins, Larry Graham and other notables. She put this together in just a few days as a school project at Berklee:
