Boss is late to the game. Streaming music is one of the worst things to happen to bandwidth.

told me he doesn't want to hear music on my computer.

"Trying to keep them as safe as possible" from viruses I guess.

It has little to do with viruses. Streaming music is a bandwidth hog that slows down entire networks.

Also, maybe he's just tired of your taste in music...

He only comes here for a day every 2-3 weeks. He's never heard my music until this morning.

Usually I just turn it off on days he is here, he walked into the office when I was away from my desk.

And his request was about viruses, not bandwidth. So you may be right from a technical standpoint, but you are wrong about his request.

Oh I just rock some headphones. I rarely get bothered at my desk anyways though.

You should be able to listen to the radio at a reasonable volume from 9-11.

Then he's an idiot. You aren't going to get viruses from Spotify. Bandwidth and not wanting to hear music would be the only legit complaints from him. Well, I suppose he thinks it also could mess up productivity. Who knows.

Why haven't you been using headphones in the first place?

The way my office is set up is that I'm the only desk in the main area, my supervisor is in an individual office off of mine and the boss is on the opposite side. The guy who said something to me today is the corporate boss.

Anyway, nobody hears my music unless they walk up to/past my desk. And I have to answer phone calls, so I don't want to put in/take out headphones all day long.

I'll just have to buy a radio.
