I've heard the horror stories of how bad Dylan is at his live shows. I'm going to be in NYC in November and he has 3 shows at the Beacon Theatre- all sold out. I'm not a big Dylan guy, but love music- especially live shows. On the surface it seems like a can't miss event.

I'm trying to decide if its worth the $300 or so for a ticket on Stubhub to see him. I would tamper my expectations but it seems kind of like a bucket list event that just happens to be occurring while I'm there. Any thoughts?

My opinion may be different than most, but Bob Dylan is not any good live (anymore). Maybe he was really good in the past before my time, but not anymore. If you want to go just to say you saw Bob Dylan, then go. If you want to go hoping to see an amazing concert, I would suggest going to watch some of his recent performances before you drop the money.

Also, he apparently has a strict no photography policy. He has been known for stopping his shows mid song to kick out people who take photos.

November 2019 I passed on John Prine in Austin. "Catch him next time." Covid comes and shits on the world and kills John Prine.

Got 300 bucks burning a hole in your pocket? Go.

I have seen Dylan many times and always enjoyed it. The Beacon is great. I saw B.B.King open for Miles Davis there. I would go.

$300 to see Bob Dylan live right now is fricking highway robbery. I saw him five years ago and he was awful and the concert was boring. Didn’t even allow cell phones out. I know that’s not uncommon but it’s frickin lame. Not worth having said you saw Bob Dylan live and I spent a hell of a lot less than $300. He sounds like he came out of the womb smoking 2 packs a day.

His band is great, but his voice is pretty rough. He also changes the tempo and arrangement of songs. I've enjoyed the shows of his that I've seen, but as a huge fan who had listened to various bootleg recordings, I knew what to expect. If you don't know songs and lyrics, you might not find it appealing.

I spent a little time this morning watching live performances from the last 4-5 years on Youtube. Some of the recordings are audio only. I think I will pass, not a huge Dylan fan anyways. I found a setlist from 2019 at the Beacon and recognized 2 songs. None of his "mainstream" hits were included.

I saw him at the municipal auditorium in Shreveport. It was probably one of my least favorite concerts I’ve ever been to but it was cool to say I have seen Bob Dylan.
