I keep hearing about the Baton Rouge blues scene. Where are some places to see some live blues in BR?

If you want to see some down and nasty blues ... Little Freddie King is making a rare appearance in BR

M+W

tells a bit of the story, but essentially it is an intimate room (225 capacity), non smoking with good sight lines and with a stage about the size of Chelsea's.

Gris Gris's got a lot of funk to them, but no denying that they wail the blues

Go to Picadilly on Government street around lunch time.

Henry Gray, an authentic blues legend and he plays there a few times a week. He's damn near 88 years old and still travels the world on occasion.

Impeccable blues resumé

Big Head's Tavern on Millerville has some good blues acts that play there. No cover, reasonable drink prices, and no smoking

Seconded. Gregg is the shite. I hear they had the power issues resolved at Phil Brady's last time. It used to be like a running joke to do an over/under on how long it took Gregg to throw a breaker.

Thanks for the recommendations guys. I live in BR but am in NOLA most weekends. If I stay in BR i am always looking for some decent non Molly Ringwalds music in BR. I have seen Little Freddie many times on frenchman st. I will keep Teddy's, Phil Brady's and Mud + Water on my radar now.

On another note i saw the Robert Cray Band at Harrah's a few weeks ago. Great blues artist to check out if you have not heard him.
