Biggest Rock and Roll Hall of Fame snubs

Watched an episode of That Metal Show and was shocked at some of the bands that weren't/aren't in the HOF. The show was from 2011 and at the time Rush, Heart, and KISS hadn't been inducted yet but have since.
Name 10 bands/artists that should be in but aren't yet.
A few off the top of my head:
Deep Purple
Cheap Trick
Guns N Roses

Guns N Roses is already in
cheap trick is borderline at best
legit snubs:
Sonic Youth
The Pixies
Motley Crue
The Cure
Joy Division
Honestly the RRHOF is kind of a joke until The Pixies and SY get in.

Disagree about Cheap Trick. They are criminally underrated band. Of the ones you listed, The Cure is the only slam dunk.
Edit....MAYBE include Motley Crue as well. The other bands while good didn't have the impact those two bands did.

YES
The fact that the Beastie Boys and Public Enemy are in it and YES isn't just goes to show that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a joke

Due to merit or genre? At least they were good. Fricking Heart and Donna Summer would have been better examples

Beastie Boys deserve it over YES, and pretty easily at that

I generally despise prog rock, so I agree

Beastie Boys were much more groundbreaking. Prog is such a niche genre. "Owner of a Lonely Heart" aside, the general public knows nothing about YES. Meanwhile, License to Ill was one of the biggest blockbuster of the 80s.
That is the RnR HOF's standards, not mine.

100% agree. Its influence is highly restricted to the 70's. The pretentious song-writing is a joke in retrospect. Beastie Boys were one of the most influential acts of the last 25 years.

quote:I will respectfully disagree. Despite prog being a niche genre, YES is arguably the greatest. In a genre that includes bands like Rush, Pink Floyd, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Jethro Tull, Genesis, etc. There is some credit due. especially since some of those are already in the HoF

I would say all of those except ELP are bigger than YES
