What's the biggest name artist you've seen with the smallest crowd? And not small due to small venue just a weak crowd.

I saw OAR in Mobile (2000 seat venue) on a Monday night in '09. Couldn't have been more than 100 people there. It was cringe worthy small. Band was pissed and made several comments about crowd size.

Jason and The Scorchers in the late 80s at The Texas Club. Felt like 40 people. Jason played like it was 5,000. Broke up a fight with the mic stand

STP at the river center--place was at least half empty; tickets for reduced to 2 for 1 and eventually they were giving a bunch away before the show.

Eddie Money played a free show in the JAX parking lot as a promo for the 07/08 Sugar Bowl. Less than 100 people were there.

I saw Wu-Tang in the superdome in '93 or some shite.

There couldn't have been more than 1000 people there.

Me too. I knew it wouldn't be packed since it was a Monday night but I thought the lower level would be full with some spillover up top. It was me and my wife, about 100 teenagers and a few parents. Zero college students or young adults. Really bizarre and awkward. I felt bad for the band.

Saw Filter play to about 30 people at the Varsity a few years ago. Looked like close to half of them were with the radio station too.

Not so sure how big a name but I saw Kinky Friedman at a theater in Baton Rouge. Don't think there were more than 10 people there.

REK at the varsity maybe 10 years ago. There were probably only 15 people there. He was noticeably upset, and even told people to call their friends. Saw him at HOB the next year in front of a packed house

Incubus at HOB Nola in the height of their popularity. Less than 1000 ppl there was still to this day the best concert I've been to.

Eta this was 2007.

One thing I love about Jason Boland is that he'll fricking rock it out with 10 people there. No complaints, just jamming. Doesn't matter how many people show up, he puts on the same, if not a better show, with less people

What's bitching about the size to your paying audience going to accomplish?

Not necessarily huge names, but

-U.S. Royalty - 5 people (including me) at Circle Bar in New Orleans. Went out and got drunk with them at d.b.a. and Snake and Jakes after their set.

-Donavon Frankenreiter - less than 100 on a Sunday night at Tipitina's.

Weezer, HoB, '97.

Third Eye Blind, The Republic (was Howling Wolf then), '97

Pete Yorn, HoB, 99 or 00. Prob 30 people.

All Landing Fest acts

Granted they haven't been relevant for quite some time but Modern English played at a small bar here in town and there may have been 15 people. The band was not happy at all.
Back in 95 or 96, Cowboy Mouth played at some small venue in Dallas. I went with a few friends and there may have been 10 people there, but they played on and a few more folks came in through the set. Next time they played you couldn't move in the place

I saw Cheap Trick in the parking lot of Camden after a Baltimore Orioles show. The crowd was small to start and like half of them left after a few songs.

Steppenwolf at a festival in Montgomery. Very thin crowd.

And the coolest was the Black Keys at an ampitheater in Charlottesville before they hit really big.
