where as surf rock or ska
maybe the last wave of punk/ska from the late 90s on
previous waves of ska were a lot more reggae than rock sounding to me...with the exception of bands like Bad Manners

Early ska was a fusion of rock and reggae. In the 90's it moved to punk rock with horns and trumpets thrown in, so now it is considered more rock then reggae in root.

Caught them at the varsity in maybe 05-07, don't really remember the years because i was a little too into the reggae lifestyle back then. A great time was had by all that night.
I was at that show too. A good time for sure. The HOB was a few years before that one. I was just amazed when I saw a 50 yr old rasta lady whip out a massive bag of weed and start selling to everyone standing around her. This was all taking place directly in front of security. My eyelids weighed 10 pounds apiece after that show.

They're not traditional reggae, but Michael Franti and Spearhead are pretty damn good.
I haven't seen Ziggy Marley mentioned either.

Junior Marvin was bob's guitarist, and is still performing as well. His voice isn't that great, but he can put on a show.

No, that was Peter Tosh. Marvin was at the tale end of Bob's career.

I never said he was bob's only guitarist, but he was one who currently is still playing. Ozzy had randy and zack wylde. Even though randy was a god, that doesn't mean we can ignore what mr. wylde did.

Tosh, toots.
Not a fan of today's reggae music.
Nor am I fan of that crap sublime tried to pull.

True, but Tosh was the guitarist during The Wailers days. And while its true that Bob didn't become big until Marvin was his guitarist, it could be argued that when Bob was at his best is when he had the Wailers backing him.

No argument here. I was just recommending people check out junior's stuff.

Love his song Police and Thieves and its use in Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels.

Hate to burst your bubble but Bob Marley was a founding member of the Wailers, so there were no Wailers before Bob.
