I've been gone for a couple of years, but I'll nominate Colin Lake, Dave Jordan Band and Mountain of Wizard as some of the better, underrated NOLA bands.

Any of you guys familiar with Eric Johanson? I saw him play a set at Maple Leaf during Po Boy Fest last year and was really impressed. I see that he's been on a tour out west lately. He was also supposed to put out an album this year but I haven't heard any more about that.

I didn't realize he was back in New Orleans. He used to go by the names Emptyself and Cire, and definitely wasn't blues rock.

I apparently missed him at Fest For All a few years ago.

This video may be from the show you were at

I honestly much prefer his Emptyself sound, but I imagine playing the blues gets you more gigs down here.

Wow, it's hard to believe that's even the same guy. Completely different sound. I like it a lot but was really blown away by the set that I saw. Of course live music always sounds better anyway. I came out of the Maple Leaf that day wondering where else in the world you can walk into a place on a Sunday afternoon and hear music like that for free.

Not the same show but very representative of what I saw.

Anders is better and doesn't have the stage presence of a douchebag.

Or Gravy even?

Gravy played at tips for one of the foundation free Fridays earlier in the summer

It doesn't matter who anyone names, you're going to double down.

Mainstream, I imagine most will say Revivalists

Is it cool to shite on the Revivalists now? Anyway in a city with a ton of great bands, they've actually got a great collection of songs. The Breton Sound is great but their songwriting is just not on the same level.
