I'm one of em. 
New Orleans is a great music town. Ben at Preservation Hall is a friend and he's doing very cool stuff there. And to be fair, Katrina obviously did no favors to the scene. Best music town in the world is a stretch.

I'm connected to HUKA. I was there for a little bit this year. Not really my thing musically, but the women kept me interested..

I cant speak to the music scene in the south anymore...been gone for awhile now. Bay Area was a breeding ground for some great punk rock with lookout records....Dischord in DC was pretty influential too. Seattle put out some amazing shite and I am not talking about grunge....Honorable mention to Gainesville just for No Idea records...

3. New Orleans has diverse music as well.
4. New Orleans has amazing musicians who are actually from New Orleans.
I've lived in both cities. New Orleans kills Nashville. Nashville is where you go to get signed. New Orleans is where you go to entertain.

Well what does Nashville do outside of various forms of country music? You're gonna strut around this thread like Nashville is hot shite, well why is such hot shite then?
I mean if you ask me what the best music scene is, it's NYC, and nothing else is really close. Always has been, always will be.

it's got a great music scene. is it the best? it's subjective. i'd say NYC and Austin have better overall scenes. NYC moreso even though Austin is great.
NYC has CMJ and everything that comes with it. austin of course has SXSW and that is the industry standard.

LA is the most underrated scene. Music fans (and really, Americans in general) love to hate on it but that city gets every act imaginable and also has a great host of homegrown artists.

LA has a lot of the pop stuff of course, but even a lot of those same labels are having their artists record in nashville because of costs.
NYC is big for hip hop however

It's not. It seems like it is because of historical stereotypes and the TV show that in no way reflects the actual city, but that is not reality. Maybe at one point it was, but certainly not today.
