I’ll go ahead and get the Nirvana mention out of the way. His guitar sold for $5 million at auction. His cardigan he wore went for $300K.

Alice In Chains I consider one of the best. First time I ever heard “Nutshell”

I'd flip the two. AIC and then Nirvana.

Nirvana Unplugged is my favorite, non-jazz, live recording period. So that one.

I could be wrong, but I believe I read somewhere a long long time ago that they played their entire set in one take, where others didn’t.

I believe AIC had many do-overs in their recording. The video of the show features one screw up on Sludge Factory I believe that wasn’t included in the album. Layne was in pretty bad shape and it seems a miracle that they were able to pull it off despite the many takes.

I actually prefer AIC’s unplugged versions of their tracks to the studio versions more often than not.

Hard to believe Eric Clapton's unplugged still has outsold everyone else's.

Id say Nirvana had a more interesting one as it was alot of them taking songs and making them their own. Plus Kurt seemed more coherent

Claptons aged better and was a perfect storm. It sucked in the older fellas who remembered him from 1970. Then got the younger guys like me at the time who remember their parents listening to some of his stuff. Layla being the main one of course. It supposedly caused the acoustic guitar to surge nationally in sales.

AIC, Pearl Jam, Nirvana only appealed to guys our age. My dad wasn’t going to listen to them in 1993.

They did it in one take, they had one rehearsal run through days prior and then they went live, didn't attempt a second take on any song and that's the performance we have. I have it on vinyl, it's one of my favorites. Kurt was in heavy heroin withdrawal during the show

Interesting tidbit as well is that then producers were begging Kurt to do an encore (it was scheduled), but Kurt nailed "Where did you sleep last night?" (Btw there's some really crazy energy in this performance at the end) so good he didn't think it could be topped and just ended the show

As much as I despise the guy as a human being, Springsteen gave a really good performance on unplugged.

He messed up 8 times on Sludge Factory. The video he yells "frick" was the 8th. Luckily they tried 1 more time.

There were plenty of other great performances. Aerosmith, 10,000 maniacs, Midnight Oil, Crosby stills and Nash, Stevie Ray Vaughan. It was such a great show when it was pure. Then like everything it got commercialized by MTV and ruined. Sad.

10,000 Maniacs is my favorite, but I'm a huge Natalie Merchant fan.

Such an angel with her awkward dancing...

Saw REM's recently with Peter Holsapple. Awesome stuff. Also Page/Plant was one of my favorites.

Yep, best decision.

Another interesting tidbit I learned, somewhat recently, was that Bobcat Goldthwait was buds with Cobain, and was hanging around with the band for rehearsals, and then the actual show. Lol. I like picturing bobcat goldthwait sitting backstage with Kurt cobain.
