It’s weird you post that while thinking the beach boys harmonies were mediocre. That’s great stuff but doesn’t really come close to a lot of the beach boys stuff. The first 5 seconds of I get around is more complex. If you simply don’t like them that’s fine I just don’t get why you hate on their talent

You took that as me claiming to like Michael McDonald?
I can't stand him.

I'm watching Rick Beato doing his Dolly Parton memorial show which is very good.
So, how can you beat Trio for harmonizing vocals??!??! !?!?
Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt. That's a crazy level of talent.
Probably better examples but this one is pretty great.
IMO Emmylou is the best harmonizer that has ever lived.

Everly Brothers set the early standard for rock and pop…
When I was a little boy, I listened to my sister’s singles by the Ink Spots. Their harmonies were amazing…
The Beatles’ three part harmony was beyond anything else in recorded music.

Earlier in the thread I posted Foxes and Fossils cover of the Trio's arrangement of "Telling Me Lies".

Again, not necessarily best in history, but Shut Up and Kiss Me is damn good harmonizing the BeeGees, which might be a more difficult register for male singers. Bitsy (Beatrice) and Giulia harmonize exceptionally well and can also do Dancing Queen better than Abba. The amazing part is that they say that in three hours they can learn a song in English (an acquired language), decide who is going to sing which parts and record it, and shoot the video. Three hours from start to finish.
