Bonamassa is one of my all time favorites and a person who's style Ive grabbed alot of influence from. He's the love child of Gary Moore and Eric Johnson and has some of the best tone of all time. If you want to show someone what heart and emotion is, put "Stop" on by Bonamassa and you'll hear the way a Les Paul through a smoking Marshall is supposed to sound. Greg Koch is an absolute beast. I love watching his demo's for Wildwood Guitars. His phrasing is absolutely second to none. If you like Bonamassa and Koch, check out a guy named Doug Rappoport. He's a phenomenal talent in his own right and is sort of a hybrid of those two players.

Since there is no such thing as "best" let me just list some personal favorites:

David Gilmour may be my personal favorite.
Steve Morse and Stevie Ray are close behind.
Jeff Beck.
Mark Knopfler is my default go-to favorite that never gets old.
Duane Allman makes me feel reverent, like I'm listening to something really important.
Adrian Belew has this weird acquired taste thing that appeals to me.
Jimi Hendrix may be the great master, but some of it overwhelms me.
Jimmy Page has that masterful/sloppy yin/yang thing that can't be beat.
Brian May is just vastly under-rated.
Any guitarist who ever played on a Steely Dan album.
Richard Thompson.
Mike Campbell of Tom Petty for keeping it simple .
Jack White when he goes Southern gothic.
Those two guys that play with Allison Krause.
So many....

Ron Block can play too.

That whole band is amazingly talented. One of the few bands that sounds as good live as they do on the album.

I met his daughter recently. She goes to Ole Miss and my jaw dropped when she told me who her dad was.
