Does "I BELIEVE" by Brooks and Dunn count as gospel? Probably not but it will get you thinking about that special place we go when we die.

Not "Gospel" per say as I understand the genre, but this certainly is top contender in the broader context.
It Is Well With My Soul
The story behind the hymn.

But if "Gospel" it's to be then I submit Go With Me To That Land. and my particular favorite, though abbreviated, cut from the end credits of the X-Files' best, nearly perfect, episode.

All the Sam/Stirrers tracks are great

I prefer the live performance -- listen to Sam work the crowd. Great gospel involves the audience in an experience greater than a mere concert, the various parts adding up to bigger than the whole
