Journey - Don't stop believin' is pretty damn memorable.
But really the best bass lines support great songs. They aren't supposed to stick out.

Can't believe any of the old fricks on this board haven't posted this yet:
Theme from "Barney Miller"
Great horns and guitar too.

I don't know if that is truly a "bass line" song since Entwistle goes all over the place with his bass in that one; rather than anchoring a song like he does in Won't Get Fooled Again. But The Real Me is my favorite use of bass in any song I can think of. It's just stellar playing.
I love this song because the bass playing is the melody of the song. That is why to you it sounds like he is all over the place instead of just part of the anchor of the rhythm section.
My favorite bass in any song is "Cause We've Ended As Lovers", the Jeff Beck song. I know she is not the original player, but I love me some Talk Wilkenfeld.

Runnin' With the Devil
Not surprisingly, my Chris Squire, Geddy Lee, and John Entwistle picks were already mentioned, so I'll add some dark horses: "Dragon Attack" by Queen, "Miss You" by the Stones, "Sabotage" by the Beastie Boys...and while I ragged on Mr Michael Anthony earlier, he does have a hooky bassline in "Beautiful Girls"...

Not the best bass line...but I love the Beastie Boys actually strumming a Bass on Sabatoge.
My other favorites:
Roundabout - Yes
Come Together - The Beatles
Under Pressure - David Bowie
Inner City Blues - Marvin Gaye
Funky Monks - Red Hot Chili Peppers

How can you include this song when the doors do not have a bass player?

And I will argue that Jamerson or Prestia would never have been able to come up with bass line to It's Ice.
"It's Ice" is very nice but the intro is nothing more than a standard chromatic figure.....stuff that you learn your first year in lab band. Not that there's anything wrong with that, Dwayne made a name for himself with it. The point is, most are standard 8th note figures. Warmup routines for the great players.
I know I'm coming off like a snob here but I'm really not..... I dig Phish, KISS, Steely Dan, Gaye, Brown......it's all good, however when people begin talking about the "best" of something, I tend to quit listening with my heart and ear and begin listening with my brain.
So many great bass lines mentioned in this thread.
