Couple of my favorite Aussie tracks.

Cold Chisel - Khe Sanh
Jimmy Barnes (singer of Cold Chisel) - Working Class Man

I mean, as far as album sales you'd think the Bee Gees are up there next to AC/DC.

And don't forget Andy Gibb... he was a late 70's Aussie Bieber.

INXS for me

ETA: Boy and Bear and Tame Impala are new(er) Australian bands I enjoy.

Lots of Cut Copy fans as well. I just haven't listened to them enough.

Does it have to be a full band?

Tommy Emmanuel has to get a nod somehow.

1. AC/DC - and it ain't even close

For a band to count as "Australian" I would think at least one major member should've been born in Australia.

Young Bros - Scottish
B Johnson - English
B Scott - Scottish (duh)
C Williams - English

Can you consider the Bee Gees Australian? They were born in the UK and moved to AUS when young. They got their start there and then went back to the UK to really take off.

So for me:
1 - AC/DC
2 - INXS

If Bee Gees are considered Australian, then they are #1. If one thinks they are all disco, you're sadly mistaken - pop, rock, soul, country

They are badass. Their 2004, 2008, and 2013 albums are all awesome.

Best has to go to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds but criminally underrated goes to The Saints...

The Saints - Memories are made of this

Band Origin: Sydney

Angus Young was born in Glasgow in 1955 and immigrated to Australia with his parents in 1963, at 8 years old.

Malcolm Young was born in 1953, immigrated at age 10

That alone qualifies as Australian.

But, also, Bon Scott was born in Scotland in 1946 and immigrated to Australia in 1952 at 6 years old.

They all lived in Sydney, Australia when the band was formed in 1973. But, I guess you're right. Maybe they could be considered a British band.

Is he? I really like his music but know next to nothing about him personally.

...and +1 for Tommy Emmanuel. What a badass he is!

I've heard this from multiple people who have met him, as well.
