Alright, treblejunkies, 2017 is in the books, and so shall we reflect some on the year in music?

The easiest topic of discussion, of course, is what the best (your favorite) albums of the year were. There was this cool thing thatthe poster Ballou (sp?) did for a couple years running at the end of the year where we all had a given amount of points to allocate, and then we all listed our favorite albums of hte year with with our weights allocated accordingly.

I liked that. I'm not going to guarantee that I"m gonna come back on here and tally them all up like Balou did, but by God, I'll do the best i can to carve out the time and do the tallying

How about we do it like so.

Total # of points you have to work with: 75
Maximum number of points a single album can receive: 15

So you can spread your 75 points around among as many albums that you want to list (less than 51, of course, as each album you list must be worthy of a single point or it's not worthy to be listed). However, you are not required ot use all 75 points. If you only thought one album was worth a shite this year, then give it 15 points and be done with that Like so:

Sweet sweet new Nickelback album - 15

And of course there's nothing stopping anybody from listing a few albums that didn't make the points cutoff as honorable mentions.

As we all try our best to list and rank in accordance with our own unique tastes, let's do keep in mind that our tastes are our own and are meant to be varied. If I see 10 people listing focking War on Drugs as their favorite album I'm gonna shoot myself in the face and therefore be unable to to do any tallying.*

I'll start the show while reserving my right to tweak this as I am not in front of my laptop (which is the computer where I have all my music, and could quickly scan all the albums i listened to in 2017.

Beck - Colors: 12
Portugal. The man - Woodstock: 11
Haim - Something to tell you: 11
Phoenix - Ti Ammo: 8
Lorde - Melodrama: 5
Foster The People -- Sacred Hearts Club: 5
Spoon - Hot Thoughts: 5
Arcade Fire - Everything Now: 4
Avicii - Avici (01) EP: 4
Afghan Whigs - In Spades: 3
St. Vincent - Masseduction: 3
Cults - Offering: 3
Bishop Briggs - Bishop Briggs EP - 1

And, yes, I listened to Kendrick's album. I will apologize for neither inclusions nor omissions. Because, my list.

Now make yours.

It's no Future Islands or The National, or LCD Soundsystem.

I’m a little confused. Is it 50 or 75 points? Based on your list, I’m assuming 75 (it actually adds up to 80 though).

Never heard some of these albums so went to check them out. Wtf is this hype about War on Drugs?! Not impressed at all. Sounds like what Don Henley did after leaving the Eagles. Not bad music if you in to that sort of sound. But I’m not.

Sorry, 75. Changed now. If mine is to 80, I messed up. Will recount.
