Only talking music talent; not getting into any arguments about his religious or political stuff.
Who is his peer in this generation of pretty faces supported by an army of songwriters?
Guy is insanely musically gifted.
Beck contraption

He is insanely gifted. Odelay through Modern Guilt is about as solid as it gets for me. Odelay probably gets the most notoriety but The Information is the one I keep coming back to. Sea Change is arguably his best album but I have to be in the right from of mind because it's so dark. I admit I'm not as up to speed on his last 3 albums.
I think the guy in the gif is Martin Molin, a Swedish musician from the band Wintergatan. He does look a lot like Beck though.

He came to town in summer 06 (Tulsa). It was sold out, small venue. I didn’t want to go. It was Sunday night, had to be at work early. But my friends had an extra free ticket and drug me out to the show.
Holy shite I’m glad I went. To this day one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. He had the cains ballroom rocking. Dance party USA

He is fantastic. I've seen him live 5 or 6 times including at a small bar in Deep Ellum. Hank III opened for him on one of his tours back in 99 or 2000 and I really went to see Hank but was blown away by Beck.

Morning Phase is one of my all time favorite albums from any band. It's so beautiful and I still listen to it often. If I need to get centered and feel at peace, this is the album I'm putting on

Becks career arc is insane.
Only time i saw him live was on the Americana tour in 2013 with wilco and bob dylan. he was doing mostly songs off of song reader, so it was super mellow and chill. He did loser with wilco which was fun.
Id like to see him live again.

Only saw him once when he opened for U2 on last Joshua Tree tour. He was awesome. Would love to see him play smaller venue

Midnight Vultures is my favorite album of his.
I've been lucky enough to see him live twice.
First time was at the Saenger, which was an awesome concert.
Years later he opened for U2. I bought tickets for me and the wife just so we could see Beck again.

I feel like not enough people know Lost Cause.

Just that song or the Sea Change album?
That album came out my last semester in college and it really hit home at the time. I was literally about to go through a sea change going out into the real world. Constantly in class, studying or working and not spending as much time with friends as I wanted as my college life drew to and end. Probably a little depressed too.
Possibly a top 10 album for me just based on the intense memories it brings back.
It definitely caught everyone by surprise after Midnight Vultures.

Thanks for the mention of this, it's now in my regular rotation. The production and arrangements are just stellar. It works really well as a companion of sorts to Sea Change (which is also phenomenal).
