Rubber Soul and Revolver were gamechangers-- they signaled the transition from "rock and roll" to rock music as a serious medium which conveyed real artistic value.

4:33 I'm A Loser
this version sounds like the same tempo

might be old news but “hard days night” is streaming on HBO, watched it last night. I think this is the restored version from 2000 or so. It looks and sounds great and brought back a flood of memories
after that, the algo served up the George Harrison documentary which we watched part of, that one is really good as well. I stopped when they got to the cancer and the stabbing…kinda depressing

The Beatles changed popular music from teenage dance hall music into a serious art form that was meant to be listened to with headphones while sitting down. It started with the Help album but was hammered home with Rubber Soul. That's the album that changed Brian Wilson's life. (And many others)

Unless you were of age you came to The Beatles in dribs and drabs, a song or album at a time.
My older cousin had Magical Mystery Tour and Abbey Road (on 8-track), then I bought the red and blue albums. Eventually in my early 20s I started building a record collection of mainly used albums and bought Rubber Soul and was blown away since it (intentionally or not) clearly sounded like a concept album.
It's all great but it's defintiely my favoite era of the Bealtes: the movie soundtrack albums through Revolver.

I'm old enough to have been there as each record came out in the US. I usually got the new Beatles rekkid the week, if not the day, they dropped.

Yea, they changed music and the world. I just listened to Abbey Road yesterday and damn, that album still sounds great.

If you know where to look, you can catch a 13 year old Phil Collins in a Hard Day's Night near the end, in one of the crowd shots.

Complete Filmed Hey Jude Recording Session (July 30, 1968)
quote:
A film crew was present in the studio, capturing footage for a documentary named Music! which was being made by the National Music Council of Great Britain. The footage shows the group working mostly on take nine, with McCartney on vocals and piano, John Lennon playing an acoustic guitar and singing, and Ringo Starr on drums.
quote:
George Harrison spent much of the session in the control room of Studio Two, after Paul McCartney vetoed his ‘answering’ guitar lines after each phrase in the song’s verses. This incident was mentioned during the January 1969 Get Back/Let It Be sessions, suggesting it was a source of simmering conflict between the pair.
