What I've heard is a whole lot of meh. I love the blues, though. Give me some Skynard, Alabama, Allman Brothers, Blood Sweat & Tears, Johnny Winters, et al

My next question is, why is that it seems more like young guy's bashing country? They've never even been around for the glory days of country. And, then how far back would one consider, "good" country?
I grew up listening to Merle Haggard tapes in my Dads truck and anytime I was around my Grandpaw we were listening to old records of Willie, Waylon, or Jones. That's how I got hooked. The older I get the further back my music tastes go.
The 90s were a great era although it is when pop country began being pushed down our throats.

I have to disagree.
I think Turnpike Troubadours are the best country band touring right now. Those guys are the real deal.

I love me some Kings of the Motel 6 if anyone's heard of them.

I think the trendy thing to do these days is for people to point out how it's trendy for people to hate certain bands or genre's of music because they are insecure about their own opinions.

We just got to Billy's Icehouse in New Braunfels and according to the posters, American Aquarium is playing here on the 11th of October. Definitely going to make that show, it's only 45 minutes from Austin.

Has that become the cool, trendy thing to do?
Just curious.
Only in the same way bashing Nickelback has become trendy.

After spending a lot of time lately listening to TT, and American Aquarium, and also Sons of Bill, I agree with you
But all three of those groups are putting out some damn fine music

I think AA is supposed to play with TT this year
They've got a bunch of Texas dates lined up

Lots of good country music out there, but these guys have something really special going. great songs, great lyrics. I saw them at the Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa last month, sold out show. great energy, the crowd was singing along to every song.

Wish they'd play in Lousiana.
I want to see them live

I had the absolute pleasure of spending some time with Evan (Turnpike) last Sunday and I can honestly say he's the most genuine guy I've ever met. I think that's WHY his music works...he's 100% authentic. He really IS just a good ol' country boy from rural Oklahoma. Everything he writes about is true to his life, and everything tells a story. He's amazing.

I think it has a reverential tone on the music baord maybe, but traditionally I've seen rap hated on just as much or more than country on TD/the OT
I don't diss rap at risk of getting murdered.

People who argue about music are pathetic. If you don't like it don't listen to it. If it makes someone else happy, why do you have to tell them why it sucks? Nothing pisses me off more than a music snob telling me a band or artist I like, sucks.
